Edna O'Brien (born 15 December 1930) is an Irish novelist, memoirist, playwright, poet and short story writer.

  • In her memoir Country Girl O’Brien tells about her LSD session with R.D. Laing in 1970. She said she felt compelled to meet with the psychiatrist as it would enrich her writing. She writes that she had “hideous” hallucinations after taking LSD which included Laing being transformed into a rat and her kitchen walls into flesh.
