Dale Pendell is a contemporary author who combines science and poetry in his explications of the relationship between psychoactive compounds and human beings.
- Back in Berkeley by 1967, Pendell says, "I finally realized that heroin was affecting my luck." He retreated to the mountains. "I hiked up as far as I could. I wanted to be as far away as I could from people. I stayed there as long as I could. I took as much LSD as I could. All of the hatred kind of fell into the earth." http://www.erowid.org/culture/characters/pendell_dale/pendell_dale_interview1.shtml
